A corrosion protection program for your tractors and heavy equipment will provide a considerable payback on the investment of time and material. A few dollars and a couple of hours every month can significantly reduce corrosion problems, assure reliable operation and save thousands of dollars in replacement parts. And CorrosionX is an approved corrosion inhibitor by Caterpillar Company.
From our experiences, a regular spray of a 50:50 mix of CorrosionX regular and CorrosionX HD provides the best best long term surface coverage but will also penetrate into metal creases and joints for protecting those spots where corrosion typically takes hold.
CorrosionX will not damage nylon or rubber seals like WD40 will, so spray around hydraulic pistons. Around engine exhausts the carrier fluid will burn off causing a bit of smoke and smell, but no reason to worry as rust protection stays intact, but product can’t crawl any longer.
Having an aerosol can of regular CorrosionX makes it easy to spray those hard to reach spots.Hoses, rubber, neoprene seals will not be affected, so recommended to spray all hydraulic swages and fittings. CorrosionX chases the moisture out and stays between the rubber hose and the metal swage mantel for years, even in harsh weather. A liberal spray of wiring harness is also highly recommended as the CorrosionX will creep up into the plugs, sockets and crimps extending the life and reliability of these expensive components. A light spray of regular CorrosionX on electronics and circuit boards is also safe and effective for stopping and preventing surface corrosion.
What about less expensive alternatives like WD-40 or CRC SP-400?
Did you know that CRC is kerosene based and will eat both rubber, neoprene and insulation, so be darn careful when you spray your backhoe if you don;t want to start replacing parts. We’ll say it again… CorrosionX is safe for rubber, neoprene and insulation and that’s why CorrosionX is officially approved by most navies of the world, Boeing, NASA, CAT, deLaval, Bridgestone, SKF, Applied Ind…..the list goes on.
Also CRC and WD-40 are highly flammable, have ~ 72 % VOC compared to CX being 7%. Great penetrants but lousy corrosion protection product.
